Casasco churches and bells…we have polar opposites in the village. A large grand church and all its finery and a small simple place of worship…you pick but both worth the visit…there is something very beautiful about listening to the bells sing there songs.
walks in the forest besides the villa are a constant source of interest and new discoveries….from the smallest feather to the perfect pine cone….depending on the season there are chestnuts to be gathered , porcini to be found and blackberries to be eaten…and that is just out the front gate. Trekking and walks with lunch destinations at local refuge restaurants surround us.
We love ….Erbonne . Close to home… Maybe they have 10 tables…set in a little room with a fire going and a collection of local pictures of the past . its quaint and busy with people trekking , driving and ridding bikes….locals drop in for a drink or a caffe…the smallest church ever and some beautiful easy walks to view the world.
Why not hire a vespa or a bicycle… avoid all the traffic on the lake front….travel the roads less traveled and visit the many little villages high in the mountains or wind your way down to Menaggio and return via the lake front…stop for lunch along the water front..or take a water taxi ride to view Lake Como at it’s best.
Lake Lugano Switzerland is a 20 minute drive from the Villa….along a mountain road or you can enter from Como Town. Visit the Art Gallery or stroll along the pedestrian shopping area of luxurious Lugano.
Argegno. The new lido offers a swim by the Lake or a jump in the Lake…..for the brave. Direct ferry rides to Como town or take a slow ride around the lake. Argegno has the best ice cream shop on the lake and a perfect bar to have a wine and a cheese plate…its seems to be a small little town but there a places to have a caffe and a meal by the river…
The local mountain views are special..you can see Switzerland or Milan, find a local cheese maker or just wander the hillside in peace…escaping the bustle of city life.
A taxi ride or a private Riva cruise are a great way to really see what the Lake is all about….
The Duomo Como..the heart of the old town…dark and moody inside. lovely to visit and the main doors are stunning.
